Silentbird walked from the elders' den, her strides stiff from last night's chill. She had slept in–as most elders do. The white and gray elder approached the meager prey pile.
She chose a scrawny rabbit, noting that the prey had been thinning lately. Another thing that Silentbird noted was that not many hunting parties had come back yet. Looking around, she wondered if that was why the daily buzz of the camp was dulled. It was a sensible idea; if prey was scarce and scrawny, the warriors should hunt.
Silentbird retreated to a large clump of ferns to eat. She just felt... Safter when she was next to something. With a rasping sigh, Silentbird bit into the rabbit's leg, still looking around for any other creatures stirring in camp.

The tortoiseshell she-cat padded up to the fresh-kill pile from the Warrior's den. She noticed Silentbird near the pile picking a piece. "Hello!" Sandstone greeted the she-cat, "How are you today?" Turning to the fresh-kill, she picked out a small and scrawny rabbit. She set it beside her.

Silentbird nodded to acknowledge Sandstone's presence. "Good." her voice cracked and grated into a terrible sound, but it was sweet as well. The bi-colored elder's gaze showed that she was happy to see some of the younger cats about at this time of day. Ripping the rabbits flesh, she flicked her tail, inviting Sandstone to eat by her.

"I see" she meowed, picking up her fresh-kill and set by the elder. She layed down next to Silentbird and knelt down to take a bite. Sandstone chewed and swallowed. "So," looking up the sky, "The sun is shining bright today."

Nettleflight padded into the scene. "Good morning," said the long-furred tom, letting out a large yawn. "I'm not the type to sleep in, but..." He stepped forwards and plucked a Kestrel from the pile, moving back a bit as to leave an opening for other cats. His head swam with sleepy thoughts, and his fluffy tail flicked drowsily about as he took his first bite of the bird. A bit of awakeness and sense flowed into him as he swallowed. By the next morsel he could taste something other than nothing, and when only the inedible parts remained he was more alert than he had been earlier. Stretching, he lay down a bit and swiveled his head. I wonder where I should go next...

"Hello Nettleflight" Sandstone smiled, "well at least you got some rest though." She then took a bite from her fresh-kill. She chewed and swallowed before continuing. "But what?" She then continued eating her rabbit.

Nettleflight looked up. "But I slept in of course," he added with a slight laugh. He moved his front paw a bit so that it was resting on its side and checked the pad for any thorns he could have possibly ignored after they had hypothetically stuck themselves in there.
