Mistedfire gazed up through the tall sunflowers at the soft morning sun. It's gentle rays stroked her pale gray face, making her blue eyes shine. A morning hunt would do good—mice were always out for the sunflower seeds in the early morning. Then followed by some fighting practice...
"GOTCHA!" She hissed. It was more like a loud whisper, as to not alert the other creatures here. The warm blood on her tongue reminded her that she had not eaten yet that day. What's the harm? I'm not on a hunting patrol. Then she took a bite of the richly flavored mouse. After savoring that first bite, and saying her thanks to SpiritClan, she quickly devoured it. Mistedfire looked around for more mice.
Scuffling around the base of a huge sunflower, a stray squirrel munched a seed. Mistedfire moved like lightning, leaping at the squirrel and pinning it's head against the sunflower stem. It either died from the claws that were penetrating it's neck, or the impact of hitting the five inch thick stem. That was a good one. Then she put it in a little patch of long grass.
The smaller sunflowers rustled. Mistedfire froze, wondering if it was friend or foe, or perhaps prey or wind.

Ravenstar padded quietly through the flowers, she noticed that mistedfire was hunting although she was not on patrol, Ravenstar did not stop her, for her mind was else where. Quickly she padded away but a sudden gust of wind blew lightly, making the flowers rustle a little, Ravenstar hoped she had not been caught.

A tom of dusty gray and misty silver was padding along. Him, Ripplestream, and Wolfclaw were out hunting. The non-social tom kept walking. A icey breeze messed his pelt up, and he let out a low growl of annoyance. Prey would never come out in this weather! But a sent hit his nose, and he saw a scrawny looking rabbit. He got low and crouched forward. One paw in front of the other, slowly going.
The rabbit's ears went up, and it sented Duststorm. It shot off quickly. And after half a heart beat, the rabbit disapeared through the bushes. He let out a low hiss of annoyance and anger. Why couldn't he catch anything? The tom ket walking, trying to find more. He thought he saw something move on the other side of a bush.
At last, something he could probally catch. He stalked forward and pounced. He landed on a furry gray animal. He jumped up, puzzled. What was it that he just jumped on. His gaze came upon Mistedfire. His eyes widen. "Mistedfire!" he breathed "I'm sorry.." the half Snowclan half Fireclan cat started to say.

Ravenstar sighed silently, 'Duststorm, thank spiritclan i almost got caught' she thought to herself before silently padding away, hoping she would not be seen.

Mistedfire instinctively swatted at the creature that was coming from behind her. "Oh." she murmured as she saw Duststorm and pulled her tail away from his paws. She quickly retracted her paw from it's position—about to buffet Duststorm's head to his own prefix. Of course, she wouldn't do that to her Clanmate. "Have you caught anything better than my tail?" she said, soft and good-natured.
Her attention turned to the squirrel that lay in the patch of grass. She hoped Duststorm hadn't seen her do the catch. It worked, but was fancy and almost considered playing with it. And if you played with it, you risked losing it. And she could not lose it.
Then she caught sight of a little bluebird hopping and pecking at one of the low flowers. Without thinking, she crouched down and crept forward, then gave a mighty leap. Her outstretched claws slashed the bird's wing, but it lopsidedly flew away, tittering an alarm call. Just great, you idiot. Now only the stupid mice will come out. She saw grass rustle as the little creatures within a ten-foot radius of the sunflower scurried away. "Eh... Do you like sitting still?"

He watched with narrowed eyes. He wasn't amused. "Stop playing around" he growled. "Your a warrior, not a kit. Your clan in hungry right now. So hunt right if your going to hunt at all!" Duststorm snapped. He took his attention to a tiny vole in the grass. With a pounce and a nip on the neck, he killed it. It was small, and stringy. But it was better then nothing. He wondered if he hurt the she-cats feelings by insualting her hunting skills. He took a little glance at her to see.

Mistedfire turned away and launched into the forest of sunflowers. She grinned as she saw the rabbit Duststorm had failed to catch. The light gray she cat darted forward, knowing that it would take to long to creep up on it. She launched herself forward the last distance and landed on the rabbit's neck, all before he had any idea what was happening. She had lost a bird, yes. She wasn't ashamed. Hunting wasn't her best skill, and even great hunters missed sometimes. As she walked back toward Duststorm, she scented the air. Hmmf. He hasn't caught anything other than my tail. Except for that vole.
But Mistedfire was slightly insulted. She had hunted right, just jumped a little low. Mistedfire could bet that the bird was not far away—how far can a bird fly with a rip right down it's wing? Determination to prove Duststorm wrong, she refused to look at him and instead stalked off in the direction of the bird. The trail was pretty easy to follow, a few drops of blood here and there led the way.
"Chitterchitterchitter, chit chit." The bird trilled. "Chitterchitterchit—" It's singing days were over at the claws of Mistedfire. She paused, spitting feathers out of her mouth.

He shook his head. A mouse wasn't too far away. He got into a low crouch and stalked fowawrd. He jumped and killed it. He looked at the young she-cat "Lets...go back to camp. Its getting dark." he meowed, seeing the sky get darker. "Besides, the queens are getting hungry. The fresh-kill pile was empty when I found it." he meowed.

"R-regardless, just a mouse isn't enough. I-i think that one o-or two of us should g-go, while the r-rest of us h-h-hunt some," suggested Ripplestream. "That w-way, the queens, kits, and e-elder can eat someth-thing while we c-can bring some more later."

He nodded his head, "Alright" he meowed. "I'll stay and hunt" he offerd in a whisper. He wasn't social at all, let alone a loud talker. The dusty gray tom preferd to talk less and as quiet as possible. He stood up. His blue-green eyes flickerd from Ripplestream to Mistedfire. "Are you hunting or going back to camp?" the tom asked her.

"I-i'm not sure," she responded, surprised by the question. "I th-think I'll stay and h-hunt for a b-bit."

He nodded his head once more. "Ok, Ripplestream." he meowed. His eyes gazed at a bush. Instantly, his dark gray nose picked up the sent of a sparrow. He dropped down and pulled himself forward like a snake. Five seconds later, he bird was already in his jaws. Amazing, it was huge! It wasn't big and plump...it was normal, but it was still huge. This would be enough to feed at least about four cats. He sat it with his vole. But even if he was happy, no emotion struck his face.

"G-great catch! A few more of those and we could a-almost f-feed the Clan!" she chuckled amusedly. And then came a mouse and it's offspring. She watch them, zoned out and grabbed the father by its tail. The small ones scattered and Ripplestream killed her catch. She thought a small prayer of thanks to SpiritClan and hoped for forgiveness for tearing apart a family.

Ravenstar smiled a bit at the cats hunting, it had been a long time since any cat had made her smiled, even the tinyest smile, then she remembered she had to go visit smallshard, she silently snuck off making sure that she would not be seen, she had wanted to be alone, but now she wasn't so sure. 'no, erase these thoughts from your mind, now is not the time' she told herself, before shaking her head, and finally getting out of the field of sunflowers, "finally" she meowed softly.

MIstedfire didn't want to leave. She was confined in the camp. But there were three cats-as far as she knew. And two of them (one being the deputy) had volentered to stay. She tried to hide to look of disappointment, but it took considerable effort. She ended up with an expresionless face, but a tiny spark of dissappointment in her eyes.
She took stock of the food she had hunted. A bird, a squirrel, and a scrawny rabbit. Maybe Duststorm was right. She was a horrible hunter. It was probably the sacrifice for being naturally gifted in fighting. Mistedfire scented the air. Another bird was in the nearby flowers. And plump.
Stalking off quietly, her tail waved softly to tell the others that she would be right back. Sliding forward, she was five feet from the bird when she started to sprint, jumping forward and up. Of cource she jumped forward and up—she wouldn't jump backward and down. Sailing past the bird, her sharp claws hooked it's neck with a deadly blow. When she landed, she squashed it's head a bit. The gray warrior put her ears back in emarassment, muttering "Oops."
